Chirping Isn't Just for the Birds--OR--Why I Hate My Fire Alarms

Ever had one of those nights where your fire alarm chirps because the battery is low, but you can't figure out which alarm is doing that ^&%$##@! chirping? My intention last night to go to bed early was sabotaged by my house, which I still think is possessed by some type of noisy spirit. My icemaker clinks at all hours, the furnace grates on and off at will, and the squirrels and woodpeckers seem to have contests about who can drop the most crap on my rooftop.

But the fire alarms were by far more annoying than anything I've dealt with. Just when I thought I'd figured out which alarm made the noise, it would be silent. So thinking the nonsense finished, I tried to get to sleep. Only to hear that chirping twenty minutes later. grrr  I ended up changing out two alarms, both of which had green lights, which supposedly signals a healthy battery. Whatever. Needless to say, I hit the sack at 2am. So much for getting some decent sleep so I'd write early this morning. sigh. I still rose early (for me) at 0830. My mother is going to take the kiddos out today, so I can get some real work done. That's if the fire alarms will cease and desist.  Wish me luck.

I HATE it when that happens. Do you EVER hear them during the day? NO! They wait until 2am to go off. Grr is right. I hope you got some good writing done today. :)

Thanks, Charity. I got a good bit done today, thankfully. Yeah, those alarms. What a pain! I even bought some extra 9 volt batteries today, just in case...
